The staff enjoy sharing the joy of making wine with the people who drink it. The wide array of Ginkgo Forest wines provides consumers with wines to enjoy for all occasions and lifestyles.  Our challenge is to share what we have learned about wine and listen to what our customers need, so that we can all have a better wine experience. Whether it’s in the tasting room, while on a tour of our vineyard and winery, or at special events outside the winery, learning from each other enhances our wine experience.

In 2022 CWWPG began a major program to revamp our bulk wine production. Not only did we begin our transformation to purchasing grapes from sustainable vineyards, but we also began a major renovation to our facility. We implemented many new winemaking techniques and began the first sustainable wine wastewater treatment center to not only be environmentally friendly but also provide better irrigation water and compost for our vineyards. One of our visionary owners and Washington Wine Hall of Fame legend, Richard Shaw, passed away after the 2023 Harvest. We continue to use Dick's inspiration, and guidance from his wife, Wendy Shaw, to make CWWPG a leader in the Washington Wine Industry.

Founded in 2006 by Josh and Lisa Lawrence, Gård Vintners prides itself on being one of the few 100% estate wineries in Washington, with 14 vineyards in four AVAs: Royal Slope, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope and The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater. Certified sustainable, Lawrence Vineyards focuses on careful clonal selection and astute farming practices that result in a line-up of more than 20 different wines under the Gård label with the vast majority scoring over 90 points year after year.  Origin and a sense of place are of utmost importance in Gård’s winemaking philosophy, honoring our family’s farming heritage, each distinct vineyard site, and each individual harvest season to understand and appreciate the uniqueness that these aspects bring to our wines.  Gård Vintners produces 10,000 cases a year for our wine club and three tasting rooms in Ellensburg, Walla Walla and Woodinville, plus our farm-to-table restaurant Gård Public House in Royal City, as well as limited distribution across the country. Wahluke Slope AVA-81,000 acres

Wahluke Slope AVA, named after a Native American word for “watering place,” lies totally within South Grant County, WA. The area is geographically isolated, bordered by the Columbia River, Saddle Mountains and Hanford Reach National Monument. As one of the warmest regions in the state, the Wahluke Slope is known primarily for red grape varieties. Named as an official Washington State appellation in 2006, the Wahluke Slope produces approximately 20 percent of the entire Washington State grape harvest each year. Gravelly, rocky soil, combined with a dry, warm climate, make Wahluke Slope one of the best places in Washington to grow wine grapes. Located within the larger Columbia Valley AVA, the Wahluke Slope is home to 20 vineyards and offers wine tasting locations.  The appellation is within the vast Columbia Valley AVA and encompasses 80,490 acres with approximately 8,931 acres under vine which is nearly 15 percent of the state's total wine grape acreage. It is resident to more than 20 vineyards and at least three wine production facilities Source: Wikepedia

The AVA lies between the Quincy Basin and Saddle Mountains surrounding the town of Royal City encompassing 156,389 acres entirely within the vast Columbia Valley AVA. There are currently 13 producing commercial vineyards cultivating approximately 14,100 acres with only one winery. Royal Slope AVA - 156,389 acres

Beverly Slope AVA is located within Grant County encompassing the towns of Beverly between Wanapum Village and Schwana in central Washington state along the banks of the Columbia River. It is the state's 21st and the 276th AVA established by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau {TTB, Treasury on October 28, 2024 after reviewing the petition submitted by Whitman College professor and geologist, Dr. Kevin Pogue, on behalf of the Zirkle Fruit Company, and Tom Merkle and Craig Young, owners of the two vineyards within the region, to propose a viticultural area named "Beverly, Washington." During the review period, TTB received a request from the petitioner asking to change the original proposed AVA name from "Wanapum Village" to "Beverly, Washington." The petitioner stated that members of the Wanapum tribe expressed concerns about the use of their name for an viticultural area. Source: Wikepedia

What is an AVA?

What is an AVA?

What is an AVA?

An AVA, or American Viticultural Area, is a federally designated grape-growing region in the United States with distinct geographical and climatic features that influence wine production. The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) recognizes AVAs, and to use the AVA name on a wine label, at least 85% of the wine's grapes must come from within that defined area. The purpose of an AVA is to provide a reliable way to inform consumers about a wine's geographical origin, similar to the French AOC (Appellation d'origine contrôlée) system.
