A number of local recreation areas have public access boat launches including in the Priest Rapid Lake, a reservoir that stretches 18 miles north to the spillway for Wanapum Dam. River level data updates every hour. Remember to be safe while on the water and beware that river levels can change suddenly without warning. Regardless of your handicap or age, a variety of golf courses are close by.  Desert Air Golf Course,

Regardless of your handicap or age, the links in and around the area are welcoming and challenging.  South Grant County favorites in the region include Desert Aire Golf Course  and Royal City Public Golf Course, but a plethora of other courses are available within one-hour drive time.

Hanford Reach - White Bluffs are perpetually straight from Mattawa on. There were no signs pointing

No signs pointing to the road in for the trailhead, so zip by the solar powered gate and you are greeted by an old log cabin. The trailhead is tricky to find about quarter mile up the road on the left, past a pseudo-parking lot with signs that read "no vehicles beyond this point", the trail is faint. It becomes more visible within a quarter mile, and climbs gently to the top of the bluffs, eventually opening up to 360 views of the Columbia and the entire Reach.

Thanks to the valiant efforts of the Central Washington Fish Advisory Committee (CWFAC), exciting things are happening in our own Grant County waterways! This non-profit volunteer-driven group is actively building and placing 4-feet x 4-feet x 8-feet artificial habitat boxes to create essential vast reefs of new fish habitat within our waters.

Public lands in the care of the US Department of Interior/Bureau of Land Management, includes 4,500 acres of high desert terrain consists of a single track, makeshift motocross tracks, rocky 4x4 trails and rugged hill climbs. No trees, sparse vegetation.  All vehicles are permitted, but no services.  Come prepared!
